Options To Choose From With ID Coders

By Keren Kipfer

The world of id coders is vast, and there is no one-size-fits-all type of coder out on the market. The type of id coder that you select depends upon your product and what type of coding you need to place on your products. Here is some basic information about a few types of coders that you might need for your business.

First of all, there are many different brands of coders and each of these brands offers a wide assortment of different types of coders. Some of the brand names that you might have heard about include a Domino coder, a Videojet coder, a Willet coder or perhaps a Linx printer or Imaje printer.

The type of coder must also be chosen within these brand names. Something like a continuous inkjet coder or CIJ printer might be needed. The same can also be said with a drop on demand printer or DOD coder. Also found are thermal inkjet coders, binary inkjet coders and even print and apply coders as well.

There are coders that print specific sizes of coding and which will require you to consider whether you need to print small or large characters. For example a large section of PVC pipe would need larger printing while small bottle might need a smaller type. Additionally, also affects your printer choice is the type of material on which you are printing. Some printers can easily print on slicker surfaces such as plastic or glass while others better on porous materials. A printer with extremely fast-drying ink that will not smudge or smear is needed.

To add to all of these requirements, a specially formulated ink and make-up fluids is need for each type of id coder, such as a Willett coder or a Domino coder and this is important to note. You need to make sure that you are purchasing the correct ink for your specific coder when you purchase replacement inks, such as Domino inks or perhaps the Videojet inks, since each machine has ink created specifically for that machine.

Naturally, as they are complicated pieces of machinery, these coders have a larger price tag. A great way to save on huge expense is by purchasing a refurbished coder, such as a used Videojet printer or a used Altima coder or Domino printer. PrintJet is a company that sells refurbished coders at low prices while also formulates generic versions of Domino inks, Videojet inks and other major brands. Just like the name brands but without their high price tag is what these specially formulated inks and make-up are made of. Look into refurbished coding equipment as well as buying generic inks.
